Movie Review...

I hear the new we killed Bin Laden movie Zero Dark Thirty was... well not all that entertaining. Apparently there isn't too much of a slant either way, with very little political reference made. Some of it seems at odds with what you may have heard from those who have come out after the fact... but then again, we all have to remember that this is Hollywood...

Anyway(s)... I didn't see it. I probably won't see it. I doubt it's even worth the $7.00 special matinee price. Bottom line I don't recommend it. Go at your own peril and if you do go, make sure you put a fifth of something to put in your coke. And yes, I realize that this is a movie review about a movie I didn't see and that by nature it's sort of a backassed way of going about things. But it is what it is!

I have not seen it either. But living here, where every station has an entertainment reporter, I have heard mixed reviews. Much of the debate is on how torture was used to find the name of the courier who eventually lead them to the target.

Not that it will work but I now declare this a k'putz free zone.

"But it is what it is."

Not much, in other words. I will repeat what I earlier said: In spite of the fact that this film has been criticized for implying(?) that torture had more to do with finding the name of the courier who ultimately led us to bin Laden (it has been stated that the courier's name was discovered BEFORE any torture took place), and despite the fact that Obama hardly appears in the film (and when he does it is a rather lame "the United States doesn't torture" statement made during the campaign (and after the film has made it clear that the US, at least represented by the CIA, DOES torture (or did) -- in spite of all this I think the film will accrue to Obama's good rather than to his ill, which is probably why Ch and others rightists will not like it. If it had pilloried Obama, they would be prising it to high heaven.

No, I think the strength of the film (which I also have not yet seen but have read about) is in the way it reveals the COMPLEXITY of the undertaking to get bin Laden, the fact that there are questions that can be raised, and that numerous people made good decisions as well as some that were not so good in the process.

Burden on the 100 % of wage earners.

HB, we agree, he did it. After repeated pledges, goal setting and promises that he would not raise taxes on those that are struggling in his Economy.

KD, Obama failure said...

“The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure,” he said. “It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies. … Leadership means that ‘the buck stops here.’ Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better. I therefore intend to oppose the effort to increase America’s debt limit.” Obama

And he voted against raising the debt ceiling.

Any one know what obimbo wants the new debt ceiling to be, has he put a number to his failure?

hb and liberals see this as not being deadbeat....a nation of where almost 1/2 are on the government take. A nation where unfunded retirements are around every corporate, state, Federal corner. A nation that borrows money to pay off old debt and interest on debt. A nation whose leaders will not even consider real spending cuts and whose people only want someone else to pay the tab for them....AND who are very willing to trash the kids futures so that they can HAVE TODAY was is RIGHTFULLY ENTITLED TO THEM!!!

Two things that just added to the National Deficit and National Debt.

Federal Reserve buying up near worthless mortgages and foreclosures at a pump of 85 Billion a Month and the obama/polsi/ried disaster of a law that added 4 Trillion to the deficit over the next 10 years.*CBO

LOL at you whatter. My 2 siblings and mother, absolutely staunch republican whackos who abhor the welfare state and uncontrolled spending, are all on the gov't dole. Lets see, my brother was thrilled with the deal extending unemployment benefits. My sister is thrilled that the house passed the bennies for Hurricane Sandy since her house was destroyed by a flood. The old lady, collects SS, an nice pension, and medicare saved her life 2 years ago, However, they all think we are a socialist state to which I find rather amusing. Just like you and the 47% to which I am the only independent paying my own way. LOL at all you righties.

They are not "freebies".

The Obama administration issued $236 billion worth of new regulations last year, according to a report from a conservative think tank.
The analysis from the American Action Forum, led by former Congressional Budget Office Director Douglas Holtz-Eakin, found that the administration added $216 billion in rules and more than $20 billion in regulatory proposals in 2012. Complying with those rules will require an additional 87 million hours of paperwork, the report said.
The group put the total price tag from regulations during Obama’s first term at more than $518 billion.

The more I read about the cliff deal the more I like it, Republicans got darn near everything they wanted.

Only place that they had to give up a little was on those that get taxed at the top more, but moving Obama from his line in the sand $250 k to the much higher $400,000.
and a host of tax breaks for the wealthiest among us.

The permanent "Obama would return the estate tax to 2009 parameters, with a $3.5 million per-person exemption" and a 45 percent top rate."

What really happened is he got rolled , again..... The estate-tax exemption for 2013 will be $5.25 million for individuals"

DizzyKuz is still pissed off at the little ONE getting rolled in the hay Republicans.

KD, Obamanomice two Left Legs said...

We are seeing a lot of talk about just how "fragile" obamanomics model is today.

We need to see if his economic Model can stand on its' own two left feet.

We should start with dropping all of the "stimulus" funding that is still under way.

Obamanomics defines stimuless spending as spending in these areas':

Food Stamps
Unemployment
Direct Transfer of US Tax dollars to the interlopers

(excluding SS and Medicare as those are life time funded thru working).

Federal Reserve should stop propping up the Housing Sector with 85 Billion pump each month, let's see how the ObamaNomics Model would really work with out it.

KD, Obama was Rolled in Hay said...

Jan. 1 made permanent the estate- and gift-tax exclusions and indexed them for inflation so they will increase over time. "

So not only did the little ONE get rolled in the Hay, he will continue to assure that the much larger estate tax exemption never gets eroded by inflation.

His sand mark was :

Obama would return the estate tax to 2009 parameters, with a $3.5 million per-person exemption and a 45 percent top rate. " that was his offer.

Here is what was stuck to him,,,,,:

New and more favorable estate tax, gift tax and generation-skipping transfer tax exemptions and less favorable tax rates have gone into effect. Under the provisions of ATRA, the federal estate tax exemption has been indexed for inflation and therefore increased from $5.12 million in 2012 to $5.25 million in 2013, but the estate tax rate for estates valued over this amount has increased from 35% in 2012 to 40% in 2013. In addition, the lifetime gift tax exemption has also been indexed for inflation and therefore increased from $5.12 million in 2012 to $5.25 million in 2013, and the maximum gift tax rate has increased from 35% in 2012 to 40% in 2013. Finally, the generation skipping transfer tax exemption has also been indexed for inflation and therefore increased from $5.12 million in 2012 to $5.25 million in 2013, and the maximum generation skipping transfer tax rate has increased from 35% in 2012 to 40% in 2013. These unified exemptions will continue to be indexed for inflation in 2014 and later years."

The more i read about this deal the more I love it.
