What a hoot. Goold ole Mark managed to refrain from screaming so loud the wax squirts from his ears (as he does on the radio) but even so it was great entertainment. It was also amusing to see how his interviewer TRIED (at least a little) not to come across as the conservative shill she is.
King Obama will consider your additional measures.
Did anyone do a background check on this asshole president to see if he is: a)mentally stable, b) no longer on drugs, c) capable of handling the drones he kills kids with.
Seeking to improve the level of discourse here, I repeat this earlier post:

GOP WORRIED THEY COULD LOSE HOUSE
"There's growing angst among Republicans that the party's House majority could be at risk in 2014 if the deep GOP divisions that emerged during the recent 'fiscal cliff' negotiations persist in looming negotiations over a slew of budgetary issues," The Hill reports.
"Even as Republican officials maintain the GOP majority is safe, several lawmakers and longtime activists warn of far-reaching political ramifications if voters perceive Republicans as botching consequential talks on the debt ceiling, sequestration and a possible government shutdown."
____________
oH THAT would be one lollapalooza of a story!
It is usual for the incumbent President's party to lose at midterm, especially second terms, but if Obama, like Clinton, can turn this around -- oh, WOW.
Seeking to raise the IQ level of commentary here, James repeats earlier posts:

You are so full of shit, Commensa. It will be one of the BEST attended SECOND inaugurals. (2nd inaugurals never have as many as first).
Sure, that's why they're slashing prices for rooms and giving away tickets.
There will be just two official inaugural balls this year, both at the Washington Convention Center, rather than 10 official balls at multiple locations around town.
The pair of celebrations are the lowest number since 1953, according to the New York Post.
A political insider told the paper: ‘Some on the presidential inaugural committee are starting to seriously worry.’

I cannot find the article, but what I said at 9:15 PM is true: The number who attended Bush's 2nd inaugural was less than the number who attended Clinton's 2nd, and the number who attended Clinton's, though high, will be smaller than the projected 600,000 to 800,000 or more who will attend Obama's 2nd. Give us the figures if you disagree.
You said "The inauguration is projected to be the least attended inauguration in recent history."
No, the truth is it will be the MOST attended 2nd Inaugural in recent history.

OBAMA GOES BIG ON GUNS
USA Today: "The beauty of a second term presidency, at least for the man in the Oval Office, is that political calculations become less important as he considers policies he wants to pursue. President Obama's sweeping gun-safety agenda laid out Wednesday reflects just that reality as he called on Americans to get behind a dramatic plan that he believes can help stem gun violence."
Politico: "For one of the few instances in his presidency, he now appears willing to burn political capital by pressuring Senate Democrats to vote for a measure that is likely to die in the House, a symbolic victory that sets the stage, he hopes, for more meaningful ones. Along with his tough stances on the debt ceiling, it's part of a second-term strategy of calculated confrontation: Republicans won't negotiate with him, so he plans to marshal popular opinion to force them into action."

IOW, this consummate politician knows now that even if he "loses," he wins.
You guys are up against a juggernaut.
And you can yell, "Dictator" and "Imperialist!" forever (for that's all you've got!),
and no one will believe you.
I simply cannot understand how someone like CH, who is not an idiot, can buy into this black helicopter paranoia. If you read executive orders, they do not create new law.
And if this was meant as satire, well to be generous, it just well, needs work.
"Did anyone do a background check on this asshole president to see if he is: a)mentally stable,"
He's a liberal - which equals defective thinking.
Manti Te'o had composite girlfriend like Obumble
Obama is planning a campaign style effort on the issue of gun safety. The Republicans are trying to attack this. They know they are on the loosing side of public opinion on the issue. This shows just how weak they are.
Another point is the NRA and how they have approached this issue. Gun safety advocates could not ask for a better opponent. Every time LaPierre makes a spittle spewing statement they lose more support.
The fact that "Obumble" has won two elections with over 50% of the popular vote, one of five Presidents in history to do so really bugs you. Thanks for the laughs.
Obama in Strong Position at Start of Second Term
A new Pew Research survey finds President Obama's approval rate at 52%, his highest since the early months of his presidency. "His personal favorability, currently 59%, has rebounded from a low of 50% in the fall campaign. And increasing percentages describe him as a strong leader, able to get things done and as someone who stands up for his beliefs."
Meanwhile, the Republican Party's image, "which reached a recent high of 42% favorable following the GOP convention this past summer, has fallen once again to a low of just 33%. Much of this decline has come among Republicans themselves."

Jane, all you have to say is your confused and I will let you out of the trap.
You said you pay more then them, I only pointed out that their tax rate on earned income is many percentage points above yours, all you have to say is you do not understand a few key points.
1, Earned Income
2, US Tax code
3, Capital Gains rate (freebie, earned income and capital gains are not the same and are both taxed)

Always best to define the terms of the left, the above really means US Tax Code and IRS Instructions on the application of US Legislation written and signed into law by the President.

Mark the capital letters with your crayons, Commensa, and maybe even you will understand:
McClatchy: "When Obama takes the oath of office outside the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 21 and looks onto the National Mall, he will see a different landscape than he did in 2009."
"Then, an estimated 1.8 MILLION PEOPLE poured onto the Mall to witness the FIRST AFRICAN-AMERICAN president sworn into office. Now, District of Columbia officials estimate that BETWEEN 600,000 and 800,000 PEOPLE will attend Obama's second swearing-in, a steep decline from 2009 BUT AN ABOVE-AVERAGE AUDIENCE FOR A SECOND-TERM INAUGURATION.
George W. Bush's second inauguration attracted BETWEEN 300,000 and 400,000 PEOPLE.
Bill Clinton's likely drew AROUND 450,000 PEOPLE."
___________________
So now let me spell this out so even Commensa can understand it:
AT 600,000 TO 800,000 OR MORE PEOPLE, Obama will have SIGNIFICANTLY MORE PEOPLE at his second inauguration THAN EITHER BUSH OR CLINTON HAD AT THEIR SECOND INAUGURATIONS.

Rush Limbaugh: 'You know how to stop abortion? Require that each one occur with a gun'
Mensa boy agrees. k'putz will bow down and worship El Rushbo. rrb will just hate everyoe who isn't a Nazi.
Brendan O’Neill:
"Obama’s anti-gun stunt was a see-through attempt to circumvent the democratic realm of grown-up debate and competing interests by laying down the trump card marked, “But what about the children?!”
…The use of children to front a potentially big overhaul of Americans’ constitutional rights is really about silencing dissent, exploiting the wide-eyed innocence of worried children to try to shame those adults who still dare to say: “But what about my constitutional rights?” Indeed, it is normally only the most censorious, authoritarian regimes or groups that use children to front or follow through political campaigns. Who can forget the Child Spies in George Orwell’s 1984, those “ungovernable little savages” whose simplistic moralism made them the perfect monitors of adult behaviour? Today, all sorts of fundamentally anti-democratic, anti-masses campaigns – from Green efforts to guilt-trip us over our carbon use to… demands to censor wicked art – exploit or evoke children to get their message across. And that message is: “It doesn’t matter what you adults believe or want or desire – the feelings of children are way more important.”
Children are perfect fodder for moralistic political campaigns because they are naturally and naively moralistic, seeing the world in brutally black-and-white terms. That the current campaign to overhaul the Second Amendment now uses children as some of its chief spokespeople is very revealing – it reveals just how cynical and unthinking this campaign is, and that it is driven more by childish fear and simplistic morality than by that old adult pursuit, politics."

I had heard this before, but had never looked into it, but the County Sheriff is basically The Law Of The Land on his home turf...even overriding the asshat known as obama if the sheriff so desires...
"Most people, including politicians fail to realize that the ultimate legal authorities in the land are the county sheriffs. This was established from the time of the Founding Fathers and upheld by the US Supreme Court in the 1997 case of Printz v. United States. Initially, the case was Mack v. United States, but by the time it reached the Supreme Court it was renamed.
The case involved new federal regulations involved with the Brady Bill and gun control. FBI agents went around to the various county sheriffs and demanded that they follow the new federal guidelines. Then Graham County (AZ) Sheriff Richard Mack and several others saw the Brady Bill as being unconstitutional and refused to impose the new federal guidelines. Part of their defense was that the county sheriff was the supreme law enforcement officer over their county and that the federal government could not supersede their legal authority.
In the court’s decision, Justice Antonin Scalia wrote:
“. . . The great innovation of this design was that ‘our citizens would have two political capacities, one state and one federal, each protected from incursion by the other’” – “a legal system unprecedented in form and design, establishing two orders of government, each with its own direct relationship, its own privity, its own set of mutual rights and obligations to the people who sustain it and are governed by it.”

Al-Qaida Resurgent As Terror Spreads Across N. Africa
The terrorist attack on a vast Algerian gas plant Wednesday shows a resurgent al-Qaida that puts the lie to the Obama administration's claim that the war on terror is all but over. It may in fact be just beginning.
Everything about the al-Qaida "Blood Brigade" attack on the Al Amenas natural gas plant 800 miles east of Algiers — where hundreds of workers, including Americans, were taken hostage in a bloody standoff — suggests an organization growing in strength with a bigger game than just retaliating for the French invasion of Mali.
You'd never know that from our silent White House, which has continually downplayed the new horrors after Benghazi and has yet to call a terrorist a terrorist.
Even so, here are the awful facts:
• Algeria is the "big dog" on the block in the Maghreb, a nonfailed state with a $267 billion economy, 90% of which comes from oil and gas.
Its leadership in the region makes al-Qaida's strike there effectively a strike at the king. The attack shows that al-Qaida has the capacity to attack the strongest regional state to retaliate for Mali. That sends an unambiguous message to the region full of weaker states.
Last October, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton sought Algeria's help on the terrorist takeover of Mali because it was the strongest state. Now it's a target.
• The natural gas plant attacked was operated by state-owned Sonatrach, Algeria's largest consortium, accounting for 30% of the country's GNP. Its high gas production (9 billion cubic meters a year) is the product of partnerships with the West and Japan based on Algeria's 2005 reforms. Seizing it took unusual planning and preparation, another sign of terrorist strength.
• Mali is important, too — as a source of cash. Al-Qaida in the Maghreb is a well-financed organization that gets its cash from cigarette smuggling and its control of air routes in Mali now being used by drug lords flying in their loads from Hugo Chavez's Venezuela, ever since Chavez cut drug cooperation with the U.S. in 2005, with few repercussions from the U.S.
• The extreme violence in Mali is a sign of al-Qaida strength. It's not just the Shariah-law amputations and beheadings that terrorize the Malians. For years, Mali has been a weak backwater, with one unusual source of excellence, its exquisite music, which is a powerhouse in World Music.
It's also destroying Mali's only other cash cow, its ancient city of Timbuktu, which until recently attracted tourists. These are the cultural actions of terrorists intent on destroying a national identity for the sake of financing a greater war.
This ought to be a major concern, but the Obama administration's impulse has always been to dismiss the war on terror as a relic of Bush administration warmongering, dismissing even the murder of a U.S. ambassador in Libya as the act of an overexcited mob instead of the coldly organized terrorist attack it was.
Now the problem is getting bigger. And they remain blind to it.
War of aggression! Whatta was talking nullification and other wing nut shit like you spout and then of course, Neo-conservative American empire BENGHAZI nonsense.
The only one who is blind by ODS is you. Along with other shit you won't admit.

GOP SEEKS STRENGTYH THROUGH WEAKNESS
Byron York: "The purpose of the House Republican retreat, now going on in Williamsburg, Va., is to help GOP lawmakers come to terms with just how weak they are. Even though the party controls the House, the talk in some quarters at Williamsburg is of adopting a 'minority mentality' to oppose President Obama's initiatives the way Republicans did when they were in an even weaker position in 2009. By doing so, the thinking goes, the GOP might be able to rebuild itself after last November's devastating losses."
"The problem is, if Republicans are asked what they can reasonably expect to accomplish in the next six months, after a variety of fights with the president, they don't have an answer. What would constitute an achievable victory? They don't really know."

Obama's net worth = $11.8 Million

Oh, by the way: New York forgot to exempt cops from its new ban on high-capacity magazines
That’s a solid result for gun control. The police are momentarily in limbo legally and the threat to the public might actually increase as would-be spree killers decide it’s now too risky to seek therapy. Get Cuomo’s office a video camera and a group of kids reading letters about gun control, stat.
Update: High-capacity magazines may not be the only loophole that’s snared New York police. According to one lawmaker, cops might be technically be banned from carrying on school grounds too.

After bashing Obama's appearance with children as much as he could, Pete Wehner (conservative as they come) has to admit:
"As for the substance of what the president is advocating: He’s calling for expanded background checks, broader sharing of databases among law enforcement officials, more aggressive prosecutions for crimes under existing laws, prohibition of high-capacity magazine clips (like the 30-round magazines that the police said Adam Lanza used in the Newton massacre), improving mental-health reporting requirements by federal agencies, calling on the CDC to conduct research on gun violence, bans on certain types of semi-automatic rifles, and blocking the importation of certain guns made overseas.
"Most of these measures sound fairly reasonable to me. And whether or not I’m right about that, these steps do not qualify as an assault on the Second Amendment.
"As Justice Antonin Scalia has pointed out in United States v. Heller, like most rights, the Second Amendment right is not unlimited. It leaves room to regulate guns; you don’t have a constitutional right to own a RPG [rocket propelled gun] or a machine gun.
"What we’re talking about, then, is a prudential application of restrictions on guns. I would prefer that the president advance his agenda through legislation rather than through 23 executive orders, in order to respect the separation of powers and the role of Congress in such matters. But in terms of the substance of what he wants, I for one find the proposals to be unobjectionable and in some cases meritorious."

"What about the slippery-slope argument? It’s true that we need to be more alert to it with some presidents than others. But as George Will once said, life is lived on a slippery slope. Taxation can become confiscation, he pointed out, and police could become Gestapos. One could invoke the slippery slope argument in order to undo seat belt laws and ARGUE THAT PEOPLE SHOULD BE ABLE TO OWN MACHING GUNS AND M-1 TANKS. Resorting to the slippery-slope argument is often, though not always, a sign of intellectual laziness. It can also be a concession that a person doesn’t feel confident they can win on the merits of the particular case, so they decide to manufacture another debate. SO AN ARGUMENT ABOUT RESTRICTING 30-ROUND MAGAZINES BECOMES A DEBATE ABOUT THE RIGHT TO BEAR ARMS, WHEN IN FACT THEY'RE SEPARABLE.

GOP Senator Insists Congress will Raise Debt Ceiling
Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) told the Houston Chronicle that Congress will not allow an impasse over raising the debt ceiling to result in the federal government defaulting on its spending obligations.
Said Cornyn: "We will raise the debt ceiling. We're not going to default on our debt... I will tell you unequivocally, we're not going to default."
"Cornyn's fellow Republicans, particularly in the House, have been trying to use the issue of the debt ceiling to force President Obama to agree to spending cuts."
_______________
IOW, Obama got dis.
"On President Obama’s proposal for curbing gun violence, I have several thoughts. 1. Even when I agree in substance with the president, as I do in this instance, I find his combination of self-righteousness and demagoguery to be off-putting. In his remarks earlier today, for example, the president once again took to the task of demonizing his opponents, something he does more promiscuously than any president I can recall. For Mr. Obama, it’s never about honest differences over policies. His political opponents have to be painted as morally obtuse, cruel and motivated by the basest considerations."
"Devaluing human life too, remember he does not want his children to get pregnant, he described it as “Punished With A Baby”."
He also doesn't want babies who survive botched abortions to receive medical care, or any humane treatment.
Pretty sick if you ask me - but, he IS a defective liberal.
Who sed dis?
For decades the NRA has used its mass membership and clout on Capitol Hill to maintain a firewall of resistance to any infringement of the rights of gun owners. There is no reason to believe that support or clout has evaporated, but the fate of the president’s gun campaign may hinge on whether the NRA has become more of a liability to opponents of limitations on gun ownership than an asset. Liberals speak of a changed dynamic in the national conversation about guns after Newtown, but that may have more to do with the way the NRA has unwittingly played into the hands of the president over the last month. From its initial post-Newtown press conference, which turned into a public relations disaster, to its equally foolish ad that mentioned the president’s daughters, it has rapidly become clear that the NRA has become the president’s best ally in his effort to bulldoze opposition to a new assault weapons ban. While the chances of the president being able to get his way in Congress remain slight, every NRA blunder makes them seem a bit more realistic.
9:13 That's right. As I pointed out at 8:40 Wehner has great philosophical-political differences with the President, whom he bashes when he can.
Yet he had to admit that on substance the Prez was ON TARGET.
Also sed dis.
the wild card in this equation is the president’s ability to demonize his opponents. If the conflict is between a Democratic president and the average American gun owner, the president will lose. But a standoff between the president and an NRA that can be depicted as the heartless foe of child safety and the cat’s paw of profiteering gun manufacturers is one the White House can win.
It is beyond ironic that the Obama administration has initiated an anti-gun violence push as it seeking to keep secret key documents about its very own Fast and Furious gun walking scandal. Getting beyond the Obama administration's smokescreen, this lawsuit is about a very simple principle: the public's right to know the full truth about an egregious political scandal that led to the death of at least one American and countless others in Mexico," said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. "The American people are sick and tired of the Obama administration trying to rewrite FOIA law to protect this president and his appointees. Americans want answers about Fast and Furious killings and lies.
Most transparent admin evah!
Salazar's Disastrous Tenure At Interior—Less Energy, Higher Costs
As he departs the Obama administration, Interior Secretary Ken Salazar leaves a sorry legacy: Under him, Interior became one of the most energy-unfriendly agencies in our nation's history.
If you're as angry as most Americans about the high cost of energy and want someone to blame, look no further than Salazar, who announced his resignation this week. With Obama, he removed major swaths of energy-rich U.S. land from production and exploration, costing the U.S. hundreds of billions of dollars.
As we've noted, President Obama entered office with gasoline prices at about $1.86 a gallon. Today, they're $3.28 a gallon, a 76% jump.
This was no accident. It was a plan. And Salazar played a leading role in bringing about this energy debacle, taking both federal lands and offshore energy resources offline and using scarcity to push up energy prices sharply, a much-beloved goal of the left.
As a federal report last year shows, oil output on federal lands fell 11% from 2010 to 2011, while natural gas dropped 6%. During the same time, oil output on private lands jumped 14% and natural gas surged 12%.
In short, no thanks to Salazar and Obama, there is an energy boom in America — but it's almost entirely on private lands. It's one of the economy's few bright spots.
Through last year, the number of yearly energy leases granted under Obama was 51% below what it was under President Clinton — and 36% below President George W. Bush's level. Supply has been systematically choked.
Energy economist Nick Loris of the Heritage Foundation last year estimated Salazar's unnecessary slowdown in permits and leasing after the Gulf of Mexico oil spill led companies to slash investments in energy by $18.3 billion, costing the Gulf region 162,000 jobs.
And that's just one area. From Alaska to the Gulf, from California's coastline to Florida and Virginia and everywhere in between, Salazar's go-slow energy policies have cost hundreds of thousands of jobs and helped create the slowest-growing economy since the Depression.
Today, the U.S. government leases less than 2.2% of federal offshore areas for oil and gas development, and just 6% of its lands. All told, Obama/Salazar energy policies have removed an estimated 1.2 trillion barrels of oil and 21 trillion cubic feet of natural gas off the nation's table — enough to last the U.S. hundreds of years.
Salazar and Obama favored foolish "renewable" energy projects that waste billions upon billions of taxpayer funds — while punishing those who seek to produce plentiful oil, gas and coal. This wasn't an energy policy; it was an anti-energy policy, a disastrous one at that.

It's clear, Obama personally ordered the killing of those little Newtown children in order to fulfill his anti gun agenda and set us further along the pathway toward citizenry helplessness which will enable him to effect a full Islamic takeover and the establishment of a worldwide Muslim Caliphate.

California here it comes. Despite the idiocy of k'putz.
"President Obama's orders will restrict 2nd Amendment rights and do nothing to stop mass shootings. Barack Obama is exploiting the Sandy Hook shooting to emotionalize the public and pressure Congress to act hastily to pass oppressive gun laws. The president resisted having armed guards in schools, even though his kids are protected by armed Secret Service.
If stricter gun control laws are the answer, why aren't they working in Chicago? Illinois has the strictest gun laws in the country. Despite all the laws, the president's hometown is a war zone with over 500 murders in 2012. While some 2,000 U.S. troops have been killed in Afghanistan since 2001, more than 5,000 people have been killed by gunfire in Chicago during that same time. Chicago has more young homicide victims every month than died in Newtown. In the school year that ended in June, 319 Chicago public school students were shot, 24 of them fatally."
CHRISTIE, FACING RE-ELECTION, ATTACKS NRA AD
There he goes again.
New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie on Thursday became the most prominent Republican to criticize the National Rifle Association — calling its advertisement referencing President Barack Obama’s daughters “reprehensible.”
“I think any of us who are public figures, you see that kind of ad and you cringe,” Christie said at a news conference where he introduced a task force on guns and mental health.
Christie, facing re-election this year in heavily Democratic blue state New Jersey, appears to have made beating up on fellow Republicans and their supporters a central theme of his campaign.
The NRA’s ad called Obama an “elitist hypocrite” for not supporting armed guards at schools, even though his daughters receive armed protection at school.
Obama's children attend the Sidwell school, an elite private academy in Washington, DC. The school has approximately a dozen armed security guards.
Additionally, the President's children are protected by a Secret Service detail.

HOUSE REPUBLICANS RETREAT ON DEBT CEILING THREAT
"Backing down from their hard-line stance, House Republicans said Friday that they would agree to lift the federal government's statutory borrowing limit for three months, with a requirement that both chambers of Congress pass a budget in that time to clear the way for negotiations on long-term deficit reduction," the New York Times reports.
But the Washington Post notes the strategy "faces an uncertain future with Democrats, who fear that dragging out the debt ceiling fight into the spring would inject new and harmful uncertainty into the economy."
Mark Halperin: "Right now, the most important dynamic in the fiscal cliff fight is the advantages the Democrats have: the President is more popular than congressional Republicans; Democrats are more united than Republicans on strategy and tactics; and the President is about to have unmatchable platforms with the inauguration and State of the Union."

Just a week before the New Year, Obama enjoyed his highest approval ratings of 2012. According to Gallup, 58% of Americans approved of the job Obama was doing. Survey results released today by Gallup, though, show Obama's approval rating has plummeted to just 49%.

*chortle*
Heading into his speech, Obama does have history on his mind, particularly two of the great American leaders he most deeply admires, Abraham Lincoln and Martin Luther King Jr.
The start of Obama's second term coincides with the 150th anniversary of Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation and the 50th anniversary of King's March on Washington, and he has chosen to take the public oath with his hand on both their bibles stacked together.
"Their actions, the movements they represented are the only reason it's possible for me to be inaugurated," Obama said of Lincoln and King in a video released Friday by the Presidential Inaugural Committee. "It's also a reminder for me that this country has gone through very tough times before but we always come out on the other side."
Mmmmmm
According to the the National Memo:
Obama Has the GOP Exactly Where He Wants Them
Even Peggy Noonan, who bashes Obama in everyway and every time she can, said:
His gun-control recommendations themselves seemed, on balance, reasonable and moderate. I don't remember that the Second Amendment died when Bill Clinton banned assault rifles; it seemed to thrive, and good, too. That ban shouldn't have been allowed to expire in 2004.

"Obama was Right to Go Big on Guns"

PolitiFact, a nonpartisan, Pulitzer Prize-winning website, has kept track of the 508 promises Obama made when he was running for president in 2008. This week, it released an “Obameter” report that rated more than two-thirds of his promises as “Promise Kept” or “Compromise,” a better average than voters cynical about campaign pledges had any reason to expect.

Here is a hint of the Obama fuck up, think deferred compensation and contractual law.
Whoops: PolitiFact's 'Lie of the Year' Turns Out to Be True
By expanding Jeep production to China, instead of increasing Jeep production in the U.S., it's safe to say Jeep (or more properly, Fiat, which now owns Chrysler) is choosing to create more jobs overseas instead of in America where taxpayers bailed the company out.
Now one could argue—and I suspect many pro-free trade, pro-globalization conservatives would make this argument—that expanding production overseas is good for Jeep, and what's good for Jeep in the long-run is ultimately good for the jobs they sustain in the U.S. job market. And if you dig deep into the PolitiFact ruling, that's their essential objection to Mitt Romney's ad: It implies that it would be better for Jeep to create more jobs in the U.S. in the short-term, instead of expanding overseas production. So in the end, PolitiFact's beef with the Romney ad was an entirely argumentative disagreement about what course of action Jeep should take, not a factual objection to Romney's true statement that Jeep was going to start building cars in China. However, disagreeing about the implications of manufacturing Jeeps in China doesn't justify calling Romney a liar for accurately stating Jeeps would be manufactured in China. PolitiFact didn't even dispute that, and even conceded the "Lie of the Year" was built on a "grain of truth." Rather, PolitiFact explicitly argued producing Jeeps in China is a good thing.
The "non-partisan" description of Poltifact was always a joke. They are run by one of the most bitterly partisan paper in Florida. Now their credibility is all but destroyed.
Economy: Last week marked a milestone of sorts: It's been an entire year since President Obama's Jobs Council last met. Say, wasn't this the president who repeatedly promised to "focus like a laser" on jobs?
Obama's failed jobs "laser" has been dropped. In its place is a "laser-like" political focus on gun control, the fiscal cliff, the debt ceiling, anything that distracts the public. That explains why he hasn't asked his "Jobs Council" to meet.
Indeed, his policies appear designed to kill job creation in America. Don't believe it? Just look at the data.
Officially, some 23 million people don't have regular work. While official unemployment has dipped below 8%, the real unemployment rate — the one that counts discouraged workers and those who'd like full-time jobs but can't find one — is 14.4%.
"Officially, some 23 million people don't have regular work. While official unemployment has dipped below 8%, the real unemployment rate — the one that counts discouraged workers and those who'd like full-time jobs but can't find one — is 14.4%."

In Obama's own words, he projected unemployment would go to 5.9 percent IF he did not get his stimuless plan passed, well, Strap on Polosi and bend over Ried gave him every dime he wanted.
Obama failed.
"""Last week marked a milestone of sorts: It's been an entire year since President Obama's Jobs Council last met. Say, wasn't this the president who repeatedly promised to "focus like a laser" on jobs?"""
laser misfire?
He should have said he'd be all over jobs like a "Drone On a Raghead Kid"...maybe he'd be more likely to concentrate then.
"""52% of the country doesn't care - so neither do I.""""
I am glad your smiley face negates that comment!
I am sure you luv your tax dollars going to pay extra-extra-extra long-super-dooper-infinite-extended unemployment benefits... and of course the various handouts to those that have no intentions of ever looking for employment.
Omerica Economics:

I fully expect to see my premiums to rocket sky-high. I expect my taxes to rocket sky-high. Food prices are going through the roof ...
I can afford it. But the 14% is no doubt struggling - and I'd bet the MAJORITY of them voted for Obama...
So, I really, really, really don't care.
The 14% need to take it up with the 52%.
Got it ?????"
CS, Ette and Whatta, the problem with Socialism is they don't care about the real effect on real people, it is the goal of HalfJane to destroy the America and inflict us with EU Style Socialism and poverty.
But with you all and myself still educating them, maybe they will learn , become wiser and see the error of a Socialist State of Omerica.
Obama could file his 2012 taxes on the 1040 EZ, not taking any deductions that lower his tax bill due the US Federal Government and he will Right?
Obama could also forgo his salary and lead.

HOUSE REPUBLICVANS START ACTING LIKE THEY'RE IN MINORITY
"House Republicans appeared to be coming to grips with a stark realization as they returned to Washington from a three-day retreat here -- they have a majority in name only," The Hill reports.
"The party begins the 113th Congress with reduced numbers and confronting a popular president and an increased Democratic majority in the Senate. Preparing for a cascade of fiscal battles and a presidential push on guns and immigration, the House GOP is adopting a minority posture, hoping to achieve modest goals incrementally while serving as a check on Obama's ambitious second-term agenda."

SHOWING RESOLVE, OBAMA PUSHES REPUBLICANS TOWARD SURRENDER
(conclusion of article:)
"The Republicans still mutter threats about the budget, but their slow-motion surrender resulted directly from a growing perception of Obama’s resolve. He should continue to stare them down, unblinking, unless and until they abandon the Tea Party tactics of obstruction and blackmail."

Interesting words from the originalist, confirming what i have said before, except now, a quote from the justice
Scalia will never be a hero to liberals, of course. But his emphasis on originalism and textualism seems to coincide with liberal interests on guns precisely because there were restrictions on guns during the colonial era; his reading of the original intent of the law was that it allowed an average person to have a typical firearm. Indeed, back in July, when he was promoting a new book, Scalia told Fox News that the Second Amendment “undoubtedly” permits some restrictions on firearms.
Look at the syllabus of the Court’s brief that he wrote:
Like most rights, the Second Amendment right is not unlimited. It is not a right to keep and carry any weapon whatsoever in any manner whatsoever and for whatever purpose: For example, concealed weapons prohibitions have been upheld under the Amendment or state analogues. The Court’s opinion should not be taken to cast doubt on longstanding prohibitions on the possession of firearms by felons and the mentally ill, or laws forbidding the carrying of firearms in sensitive places such as schools and government buildings, or laws imposing conditions and qualifications on the commercial sale of arms. [United States v.] Miller’s holding that the sorts of weapons protected are those “in common use at the time” finds support in the historical tradition of prohibiting the carrying of dangerous and unusual weapons.

Astroglide will be in short supply in Ill.
IN YOUR INAUGURAL SPEECH, MR. PRESIDENT, GO FOR THE THROAT!!!
The challenge for President Obama’s speech is the challenge of his second term: how to be great when the environment stinks. Enhancing the president’s legacy requires something more than simply the clever application of predictable stratagems. Washington’s partisan rancor, the size of the problems facing government, and the limited amount of time before Obama is a lame duck all point to a single conclusion: The president who came into office speaking in lofty terms about bipartisanship and cooperation can only cement his legacy if he destroys the GOP. If he wants to transform American politics, he must go for the throat.

The article continues with very good advice. In his first term, the GOP was out to destroy him. In his second term, he may as well go all out for destroying the GOP, if he intends to be the transitional President he wants to be.

"If his second inaugural address succeeds, it will be because the President has delivered a speech that is not chilly or self righteous, but warm and understanding as well as honest and true."

My own thought:
Put the emphasis on honest and true. If Obama stands before the nation and speaks to us as adults, as frankly and truthfully as he did in his Philadelphia speech and from time to time in some others of his speeches, it will both successful and of momentous historicity.
This could be an important next step on his way toward being the transitional, consequential, transformative President he hopes to be.
OBAMA EYES HIS LEGACY
Associated Press: "Presidential terms are measured by sweeping laws and stirring events, but legacies are about enduring ideas. The one Barack Obama has in mind will drive most everything he tries to do in the next four years: assuring that America is a place where anyone can make it."
"This is the playbook of a Democrat who thinks the basic compact between a nation and its people has been broken, who sees government as more of an aggressive force for good than a bureaucratic menace to society."

Amen, amen.
And if he can make that stick as a national goal worthy continual pursuit, he may be able to shovel Reagan's "government is the problem" mantra into the erroneous and unhelpful dustbins of history.
"Put the emphasis on honest and true."
Can't get that from pathological liars.

Shotgun accidentally discharges as owner unfastens its case at gun show
Retired sheriff's deputy and two others are injured, police say
The 36-year-old gun owner was apparently going to sell the shotgun at the show
Police cancel private gun sales at the gun show, held at N.C. State Fairgrounds
(CNN) -- A 12-gauge shotgun loaded with bird shot accidentally discharged Saturday when its owner opened its case at a gun show at the North Carolina State Fairgrounds, injuring a retired sheriff's deputy and two other persons, police said.
The gun owner, a 36-year-old man from Wilmington, North Carolina, was carrying the weapon through security at the show entrance and was unfastening the case on a table, authorities said. The owner planned to sell the shotgun at the show.
The deputy suffered a slight injury to his hand and was treated and released at a local hospital, said Joel Keith, chief of police of the North Carolina State Fair.
A 54-year-old woman from Benson, North Carolina, was being treated a wound to her right torso at a local hospital, and a 50-year-old man from Durham, North Carolina, was treated for an injured left hand, Keith told reporters.
"I want to emphasize that this is an accident," Keith said.

Good one, James
So far today, there have been five, yes five people have been injured in accidental shootings at "Gun Appreciation Day" events. The people attending these events are supposedly familiar with gun safety. Can you imagine what would happen if you armed every principal?
Given what has happened on Wall Street, Obama is the worst socialist in history.
R.I.P. Stan the man
Yup, Stan Musial. When I was a kid he was near the end of his career. But since my dad watched "The Game Of the Week" on NBC Saturdays, I probably saw him play.
The show was hosted by "Dizzy" Dean and Pewee Reese.
The original 1966 Batmobile just sold for $4.2 million. The guy who bought it said he was going to put it in his living room.

Whatta will hate this.
Don't you think we should start a petition insisting that Obama remove the busts of Lincoln and Martin Luther King, Jr from prominent disply in the Oval office and put back in their place the bust of Churchill?
I just went to Amazon.com and read some of the five star and some of the one star reviews of Dinesh D'Souza's film "2016 Obama's America" and had many a laugh.
(You can buy a used copy cheap.)
Also went to the D'Souza article in Wiki and had many a laugh
(The man is not wrong about everything always, just most of the time!)
2:59 AM Interesting article, Hb.
Here's how it ends:
______________
If inflation is not the proximate risk of today's economy, then we are radically misjudging our problems and missing solutions. If inflation is not a dire threat, then we need not be so concerned about government spending or central bank policy. We should instead focus on the ability of our national economies and the global economic system to generate sustainable living standards for billions of people.
Right now, so many are so fixated on inflation that these other challenges receive short shrift. If inflation revives, that fixation may be justified. If not, we will have squandered our time chasing echoes instead of meeting our present with eyes wide open to the possibilities of the future.
HB you do know you just admitted Obama is a Socialist, all be it your logic is flawed and you do not know nor care to understand what Socialism is, Obama is a Socialist.
Within your very limited breath of knowledge on economics and financial matters please explain how stock Indies and Socialism are incongruent ?
Are you going to now tell us that No Socialist Country has a stock Market?
DO you invest like Obama?
If you do your holding would have lost over 60 Billion dollars in four years.
It is time to seized GM Profits until the US Tax Payer has the Obama Promised ROI.
In the Wicki article, one of the conservative critics of Dinesh D'Souza's theories about Obama says:
"D’Souza always sees absence of evidence as evidence of something or other. ... There is, indeed, a name for the beliefs that motivate President Obama, but it’s not anticolonialism; it’s not even socialism. It’s liberalism!"
--Andrew Ferguson in The Weekly Standard
The magazine published a letter from D'Souza in which he expressed surprise "at the petty, vindictive tone of Andrew Ferguson’s review."
LOL LOL LOL LOL
We have posters here who are even worse than D'Souza. At least he is able to posit his arguments without constantly referring to sexual acts and/or bodily orifices.
Can you imagine what would happen if you armed every principal?
You would never have a repeat of Sandy Hook again.
Armed guards are good enough for Lord David Gregory's children but not good enough for the rest of us.
At least he is able to posit his arguments without constantly referring to sexual acts and/or bodily orifices."
Glad you final have the guts to call out HB.
Well done.
46 percent of all middle and low income people do not invest independently in the US Stock market.
For Obamabots to link the rise in the Dow/S & P 500 to ALL income earners and in some odd way to a better overall US Economy for the worker bee is, well, one of two things.
1, partisan hackery
2, lack of social-economic knowledge
Today the position of the leftist here is that ONLY the gunman going into US Schools shall be armed.
"Glad you final have the guts to call out HB."
He should look in the mirror.
On September 21, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton spoke to reporters before a meeting with the Pakistani foreign minister. She addressed the September 11 assault on U.S. facilities in Benghazi, Libya. “What happened was a terrorist attack, and we will not rest until we have tracked down and brought to justice the terrorists who murdered four Americans.”
NEWSCOM
Clinton’s statement was notable. It was the strongest and most direct assessment of the attacks from any Obama administration official in the first 10 days after the deaths. By calling the incident a “terrorist attack,” Clinton acknowledged what President Obama had gone out of his way to avoid.
The second part of Clinton’s comment generated little interest. Her vow to bring to justice the perpetrators of the attacks was the kind of perfunctory promise we expect to hear from any politician after any attack, particularly one so brazen. Of course it would be a top priority of the Obama administration and its lead diplomat to understand the attacks and punish those who committed them.
Yet four months later, Clinton’s promise is notable precisely because it has gone unfulfilled. No one has been “brought to justice”—a fact that seems unlikely to change anytime soon. “We’re not even close,” says one U.S. official involved in the investigation.
And jihadists in the region, no doubt emboldened by the lack of U.S. response to the attacks, have taken to taunting the American investigators and celebrating U.S. feebleness. Washington has very little to show for its investigation of the Ben-ghazi attacks. One leading suspect is in custody—Egyptian custody—and we’re being denied access to him. Another sipped a strawberry frappe in the lobby of a luxury hotel in Benghazi as he told a New York Times reporter that he felt no need to hide from the United States. And when a third suspect was freed from a Tunisian prison earlier this month, the U.S. government was given no warning, but extremists belonging to an al Qaeda-linked group apparently had advance notice.
